[Faculty] College of Engineering COVID-19 Update

Dear Faculty and Staff,

In follow-up to the email that the President just sent, please note the
following:

1) *College Faculty Committees* are to suspend their work through April 6,
2020 for faculty to focus on converting their courses to the virtual mode.

Please note that the following Committees still need to continue their work:
1) College and Departmental level faculty and staff search committees
2) College and Departmental RTP committees
3)  Executive Committee

2)  *Contacts for transition to virtual mode:*  The following faculty and
staff have been charged with the following in regards to the transition to
virtual mode and should be contacted directly with questions accordingly:

Interim Assoc. Dean Ozturk - Coordinating logistical plans of transition to
virtual mode

3) *Tomorrow, Friday, March 13, is the last day for face-to-face
instruction for Spring 2020*. An exception will be offered for lab classes
only; SDSU will conclude all lab course face-to-face instruction by Friday,
March 20.

The University will pause all face-to-face instruction, with the exception
of labs, during the week of March 16-19 to expedite the move to virtual
instruction. Classes currently offered in the virtual space will continue
to be offered via virtual platforms. There will be no pause to these
classes that have already made the shift to virtual instruction.

This decision supersedes the previous announcement regarding the move to
virtual instruction effective April 6.

All the exams planned after March 13, 2020, will have to be conducted in a
virtual mode. *No exceptions*.

4) *Faculty Candidate Interviews*. I will be in direct contact with the
Department Chairs regarding the status of any remaining faculty candidate
interviews. The Department Chairs will provide an update to their
respective faculty search committees.

Faculty and Staff should continue coming to campus for work. SDSU remains
fully open; the campus has not closed. Please share this information with
your colleagues and students.
