Subject: [psw_sec] Call for abstracts - ASEE PSW Section Conference (April
4-6, 2019)
To: psw_sec at asee.org <psw_sec at asee.org>
Dear ASEE PSW Section members,
I am pleased to announce that the American Society for Engineering
Education Pacific Southwest (ASEE PSW) Section invites abstracts—for full
papers, posters and workshops—for the *2019 ASEE PSW Annual Conference and
Exposition*. This major regional conference, focusing on educational
practice, innovation, and research in engineering education, is being
hosted by the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology at
the California State University Los Angeles on *April 4-6, 2019* with the
theme of *“Inclusive and Engaged Learning: Enhancing Engineering Student
Success”*.
Please consider submissions on topics relevant to engineering education
including, but not limited to, courses and curricula, pedagogy and
assessment, innovative and exploratory educational practice, industry
partnerships, and other student success initiatives. The conference will be
held in conjunction with the Engineering Liaison Council (ELC) meeting, and
submissions on 2-year college education practices and pathways for
community college transfer students are of great interest. Instructions and
templates for abstract and full paper submissions can be found on the
conference website: http://aseepsw2019.calstatela.edu/index.html. Authors
can submit two types of abstract: (1) full paper and (2) poster or
workshop. *The deadline for abstract submission is Nov. 9, 2018*.
*Joint Conference with the Engineering Liaison Council (ELC)*
The 2019 PSW conference will be held in conjunction with the California
Engineering Liaison Council (ELC) Spring meeting. The ELC is the one
organization in California that networks all institutions of higher
learning engaged in engineering education. The ELC will be hosting sessions
on April 4-5 including workshops on teaching techniques, collaborative
grant-funded 2-year to 4-year transfer bridge programs/pathways, and model
transfer certificate programs in California.
*Full Papers*
Submission of a full paper is a three-step process consisting of an
abstract review, followed by a draft paper review of accepted abstracts,
and finally a full manuscript review. Abstracts will each receive one blind
review; papers will be blind-reviewed by a minimum three reviewers.
Acceptance of both the abstract and the final full manuscript is required
for presentation in the conference and for inclusion in the conference
proceedings (publish-to-present). Abstracts must be 250-500 words in
length. Authors are encouraged to consult the Author’s Kit at
http://aseepsw2019.calstatela.edu/index.html before submitting. Accepted
full papers will be published in the PSW conference proceedings.
*Posters and Workshops*
Abstracts for posters and workshops (250-500 words) should be submitted
following the procedure described in the Author’s Kit on the conference
website http://aseepsw2019.calstatela.edu/index.html. Authors are
encouraged to submit their work-in-progress as a poster. A full paper is
not required for a workshop or poster abstract. Authors should indicate on
the abstract the type of presentation (workshop or poster) at the beginning
of title as shown below:
1. For a poster submission, the title should be “*Poster*: Your poster
title”
2. For a workshop submission, the title should be “*Workshop*: Your
workshop title”
All abstract submissions will be through ASEE Monolith:

We hope you can join us next year in Los Angeles!
- Paul
