Greetings College of Engineering Faculty and Staff,

Dassault Systèmes, the company that develops and owns the rights to
Solidworks, one of the primary software applications we use in the
College for solid modeling, has given us new rules regarding the use of
Solidworks in research applications. I'm attaching relevant documents
for your review, but to summarize, we are no longer permitted to use our
existing "Education Edition" license while working on a research
project. This includes graduate students working on their theses. I
have attached the CSU Academic Research Pricing document for your
review. If any of you are a PI on a funded grant or contract, and you
have graduate students using Solidworks for modeling or simulation to
generate intellectual property or deliverables for the project, please
contact me so I can work with you to obtain Solidworks "Research
Edition" licenses.

Thank you,

Chris
