Hello,

 

We at SDSU-STAR (SDSU Smart Transportation Analytics Research) lab are planning to conduct a driving simulator study to investigate how different vehicle safety warning systems affect drivers’ behavior on curvy roads. The focus of the study is on curve speed warning systems which alert drivers when approaching speed to curves is too high.

 

It will be very much appreciated if you could take some time to participate in our study. The study will take no more than two hours, and your participation can contribute to curve speed warning system development and improve traffic safety that could reduce crashes at curvy roads and ultimately save lives. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary, but you will get a first-hand experience dealing with interesting driving simulation equipment. You can opt out of the experiment at any time for any reason. If you decide to participate, you will also be compensated $30 at the end of the driving session when you finish the experiment.

 

Data obtained from the simulator will be confidential. Analyses shared and reported in publications will not include participants’ personal identifiers in order to ensure participants’ confidentiality.

 

All participants must be licensed drivers at least 18 years of age. If possible, we are interested in having an age-and gender-balanced population. We will ask you to provide us with your age and gender, and we will enroll equal number of males and females to fulfill the balancing criteria.
