SUBJECT: Join Us for an Upcoming Sexual Violence Awareness Seminar

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sexual assault is an issue that impacts everyone, including SDSU students,
faculty and staff. As part of our efforts to end sexual assault, SDSU is
working to stimulate dialogue across campus on this important and relevant
topic. We encourage our faculty and staff to attend the important and
informative seminar on sexual violence awareness on October 22 from

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theater.

*Together We Can: Understanding and Preventing Sexual Violence *will be
presented by Jeffrey S. Bucholtz, a nationally recognized expert in the
field of sexual violence prevention and awareness. Please join your
colleagues as we take a critical look at the ways in which our culture
facilitates sexual violence and the impact that has on our campus
community. Participants will learn how to utilize new strategies for
discussing the language of gender and violence, and apply discussions about
the root causes of violence to their own work. The training will also help
Participants to understand the links between oppression, dehumanization and
sexual violation and to identify opportunities and implement strategies for
sexual violence prevention and response here at SDSU.

Please join us immediately after the training for the “Get Together, Give
Back” Fall Social. The social, in celebration of SDSU’s Teal Ribbon
Campaign supporting sexual violence awareness, will be from 10:30 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. in courtyard of the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. SDSU
President Elliot Hirshman will be making a presentation at 11:00 a.m.
Breakfast snacks and beverages will be provided.
