The College of Engineering at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites
applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean to begin in
January 2015.

The Associate Dean is a key administrator within the College of
Engineering.  The Associate Dean is responsible for the day-to-day
operations of the College of Engineering including oversight of current
graduate programs and development of new programs, and support of research
activities. Duties include mentoring new faculty, serving as liaison to the
SDSU Research Foundation, reviewing proposals, assisting faculty in
identifying new research opportunities (especially those that may be
interdisciplinary), managing grants and contracts and developing research
collaborations with San Diego's robust local engineering industry and
governmental laboratories.  The Associate Dean is also responsible for
fiscal planning and resource management, supervising office staff and
technicians, and overseeing the daily operations of the College.

Applicants who have earned a doctorate in engineering and that would
qualify them for an appointment in one of the College's academic
departments are preferred.  Experience in university administration is
preferred.

The SDSU College of Engineering offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in seven
programs through its four departments (Aerospace Engineering, Civil,
Construction and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer
Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering), as well as a Joint Doctoral
degree program with the University of California, San Diego.  In Fall 2013,
there were 2,779 undergraduate and 328 graduate students enrolled in the
College of Engineering.
