Hi Monte, I was wondering if you might be able to forward this to other
colleagues in Engineering? I am sending this to Thelma, Teresa and Larry
Hinkle as well. Thanks so much!

Dear Colleagues:

Once again ARCS Scholarships (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists)
are available for our master's and doctoral level students in the Sciences
and Engineering. As you may be aware, the ARCS Scholarship requires a
nomination by the student's faculty research mentor and an application by
the student you are nominating. ARCS scholarships awards are highly
selective and based upon the excellence and achievements of the student
applicants.

If you are nominating more than one student, an acknowledgement of the fact
you are nominating more than one student along with a relative ranking of
the students you are nominating is also required. I encourage you to promote
this opportunity for your masters and doctoral level students.

This year we will have 7 new scholarship openings with 5 scholar renewals
for a total of 12 supported scholarship awards $7,500.00 each. Each
selected scholar can be supported for up to 6 years. Initial selection as an
ARCS scholar is very competitive.

I would like to point out that 1 of the 7 new scholarships will be supported
by Cymer and they have requested their scholarship to be designated for a
master's level student in sciences or engineering who has "experience with
optics, laser induced plasma, optical metrology, and/or control of such
devices." Cymer is hoping to be included in the mentorship of such a
student, provide an internship and then hire them upon completion of their
master's program.

Any questions after reviewing the information below can be directed to me
but please use: "ARCS Scholarship Application" in the subject line.

The deadline for submission is June 28, 2013 at 4:00 PM.

Information for your students: To apply, students should go to the ARCS
Scholarship website which can be located by going to
www.sdsu.edu/scholarship and clicking on the Achievement Rewards for College
Scientists Foundation Award under "Scholarship News" on the right column.
