Engineering Student Named Homecoming King
Mechanical Engineering student, Levi Lentz, was crowned Homecoming King on October
8th, 2011! Through his accomplishments and active roles in the university, Levi
showed San Diego State that winning Homecoming King was not based on his popularity
but on his scholarship, community service, and achievements. Being the only engineering
student on the Homecoming Court, Levi represented Engineering well.
Levi was nominated for the Homecoming Court by the Honor Council due to his active
achievements. In addition to being an officer of the Honors Council and a member
in five of the six interdisciplinary honors societies of the Honors Council, Levi
also holds officer positions in two other organizations on campus, the University
Honors Program Student Society, and the Mortar Board. Levi has also been able to
maintain a solid 3.87 GPA.
As a service to the community, the Homecoming King and Queen are required plan a
community service event the year following their victory. Levi is pushing to plan
a community service event that helps and benefits engineering.

Zahn Center for Engineering Innovation Opens at SDSU
San Diego State alumni Richard Kerr has developed a bi-weekly series of lunchbox
lectures that teaches and shows students that entrepreneurial businesses can be
started with innovative ideas. Kerr's transition from engineer to businessman allows
him to educate students on how to change their thought processes when approaching
entrepreneurial ideas. These free lectures given to the students not only give tips
and advice on entrepreneurship, but also help determine if entrepreneurship is something
that they really want to pursue.
