Hi All,

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to support Girl Scouts by buying
cookies, I hope you will consider supporting my daughter and her troop.
This year we have the cookies to deliver right when you order. Please see
me or the order form in the Dean's Office. Cookies are $4 per box, and I
have all types in my office.

If you are in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr. Karen May-Newman's
daughter is also selling and would appreciate your support.

Please consider:

v Girl Scouting encourages community service, builds leadership skills, and
provides opportunities for career exploration for junior and senior high
school young women.

v If you don't want the actual cookies, you can donate to Operation Thin
Mint, an extremely successful program run only by the SD Council through
which pallets of Girl Scout cookies are shipped to men and women in the
military who are serving our country all over the world.

v 100% of cookie proceeds stay within San Diego County to build the Girl
Scout program, either by supporting activities of troops such as ours, or by
supporting the local San Diego/Imperial Girl Scout Council, who maintains
properties, provides training and support of leaders, and offers a plethora
of programs such as summer camps, outdoor opportunities, and enough day
programs to cover just about every activity and interest you could think of.

I lead an active troop of six11th grade Ambassador Scouts. Among other
things, we engage in numerous service projects including making blanket for
"My Stuff" bags for children entering foster care, making pillow cases for
children undergoing cancer treatment, cleaning up local beaches with the
SurfRider foundation, clean-ups at Mission Trails Park and Navajo Canyon,
and we have set a goal to earn enough money in various fundraising
activities to go on a big trip this summer, 2011.

I hope that you will support our troop and Girl Scouting in San Diego!
Cookies will be available through Friday March 11! I have attached a flyer
with the varieties this year.
